2 years ago today, I walked into work on flat out told the bosses I was out for the day.
How many jobs can you walk into, and just say, ‘Hey, I’m gonna go travel to Minnesota in the Rock car, drink heavy metal coffee, and interview Dave Ellefson of Megadeth…see ya.‘ The funny thing is that they understood, it was a good ol’ radio stunt!
So early morning, I jumped into the Rock 108 vehicle and drove about 3 1/2 hours to Jackson, MN…I did phone calls into the station and reported my current location, which I had no idea where I was…but GPS did so I was good. Then…I finally got into Jackson, MN and found the one and only brick and mortar shop for Ellefson Coffee Co….it was their grand opening celebration and full of all sorts of awesomeness.
Dave was of course there for the grand opening, so I was able to snag an interview with the man himself!
How crazy to think that was 2 years ago! From what I understand, the shop closed up…looking at their Facebook page, they have been inactive since 2018 so I have no idea!
Now, I gotta point this out…cause it’s naturally the most NED thing to happen, but while I was on the trek back to the station, my mechanic called me. He called to let me know that the Equinox we owned at the time? The air conditioner compressor went out, which how that car was built…was required to properly make the serpentine belt work….so….$700 freaking dollars later, I was fixing the car….mind you, this was also during the time I was getting eaten alive by bills and student loans…so $700 was bank breaking.
But still, I got to hang with Dave….so that’s cool.
