The first Slipknot album I ever owned.
16 years ago, Slipknot went from being a pretty well known metal band, to a superstar metal band as they released their 3rd album ‘Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses.’
This is the album that houses a few of their hits like Duality, Before I Forget, and Vermilion, and it is just a fantastic album. It was also the album that was a pretty decent departure for their sound too. Put this album next to their 2nd album ‘Iowa’ and it’s quite the different sound. You wouldn’t think a masked band like Slipknot would have a song like ‘Vermilion Part 2,’ but once you hear it, it fits incredibly well.
I remember my friends skipping Gym class in high school to run to Best Buy to purchase the album, during that time I was still discovering the band. It wasn’t until I saw their music videos on Yahoo! Music (YouTube didn’t exist yet…) and after seeing a performance of The Blister Exists, I was sold.
Now I gotta ponder the fact that this album is 16 years old.
