A Toronto woman says she was shocked and disgusted after she saw a worker at a grocery store spitting on a towel and then wiping down grocery baskets with it.
After the baskets were done, the cleaner continued on to wipe down grocery carts with the same towel as well.
The lady filming showed the manager that the guy was using the old ‘spit shining’ method.
The manager wasn’t very pleasant to her. So, she went above his head and got a call back that the cleaner no longer works at the store. Turns out, he works for a third party cleaning service.
The Vice President of the grocery store said, “[It is] completely against the standards we work so hard to achieve in our stores each day. The health and safety of our customers and teammates is our top priority – that has never been more true than right now, through the COVID-19 pandemic.”
