I’ve been going through all sorts of stuff trying to find out what the worst storm in Iowa history was!

Monday, we had one HELL of a storm…I mean, it was basically a hurricane in Cedar Rapids and from I have been finding out, it was the worst the city has ever been through. Watching that sucker through the studio windows was exciting, yet frightening at the same time, so I wondered…what was the WORST storm that the state of Iowa has ever seen?

I think the one that sets the bar was May of 1968.

A storm that produced 46 tornadoes in a 27 hour period, and even rated two of those ‘naders as an F5, which one of them hit Charles City. The storm ended up killing 72 people in its run. Think abut that, it last for and ENTIRE DAY and more.

I obviously wasn’t around during that time, but I can only imagine is was pretty similar to what we dealt with this past Monday.
