I still defend this movie fight scene among all the good ones.
Bruce Lee, Chuck Norries, Keanu Reeves, Uma Thurman, Jackie Chan….yea…they sure have some amazingly choreographed fight scenes! Bruce Lee is king after all! John Wick is glorious! Kill Bill is bloody gory and gross!
But….Roddy Piper and Keith David beating the bejesus out of each other in 1988’s They Live? Effin’ priceless.
It’s just so looooong, but damn it’s entertaining! Sure all those other movies have amazing filming style and are dazzling to watch, but the They Live fight scene is seemingly so real and legit…you’d think those two actors were actually beating the living hell out each other. Like, ask yourself, if you got into a fight, would you be some sort of karate master that levels an army of bar dudes? Yea….probably not. The ‘They Live’ fight scene though? Yea, that’s probably more like how you would be.
6 minutes of just two guys brawling each other….it’s pure 80’s and pure glory….and mama don’t like taddle tales.
