I love a good documentary,.
Especially when it’s something I of course have a major interest in….video games! Specifically the early to mid 90’s where Sega and Super Nintendo were battling for who would be crowned KING of the Video Games. If you’ve never heard the story of that whole thing, it’s all written in a book named ‘Console Wars.’ The book is written more like a story, and not so much a documentary…but it’s fascinating.
If you don’t have time to read the nearly bible sized book (I did…), you can watch the movie on CBS All Access!
It’s very well done, similar to Netflix’s High Score, but more centric on the early to mid 90’s battle between Sega and Nintendo. The story is basically how a small video game company (Sega) dominated an industry at the time owned by Nintendo. If you are any kind of gaming, marketing, and good story nut…this is a great movie to watch.
Bad part? It’s an exclusive to CBS’ app ‘All Access’….which after digging through it for a minute, there isn’t much there…but you can do the free trail and just cancel after the 7 days, that’s what I did.
