All she want’s for Christmas is a grungy alt rock album.
When you think of Mariah Carey, you think of that damn Christmas song right? You know what it is…you’ve sung a million times, and anytime you walk into a Hy-Vee? I PROMISE that you’ll hear it on the PA.
But set that aside for a minute, and did you know that Mariah Carey (aka Christmas Queen) had a darker side to her back in 1995? Apparently so much that she SECRETLY wrote a grunge album and performed on it. This was during the time she was recording an album named ‘Daydream.’ According to her tweet, she made the album just for laughs, but turned out the ended up loving it over the years. You can check it out in her tweet below.
Fun fact: I did an alternative album while I was making Daydream 👀 Just for laughs, but it got me through some dark days. Here's a little of what I wrote about it in #TheMeaningOfMariahCarey 🤟 S/O to my friend Clarissa who performs the lead w/ me as a hidden layer #Chick #TMOMC pic.twitter.com/Re23t5whcd

It is good to note that she IS NOT singing lead vocals, it’s her friend named Clarissa…Mariah is the harmony that isn’t very well heard, but if you listen closely, you’ll hear her.
There, I wrote about a Mariah Carey grunge album….something I would never expect to write about.
