We all talk about movies all of the time, but what about video games?
CC has tossed a bunch of great scary movies to watch this season, but the video game world can be scary or even scarier because of how involved you get into the game! Horror video games happen to be one of my favorite genres of video games, so are you lookin’ to get scared this season? Here are 5 games that most likely able to freak the hell out of you.
Resident Evil 7 (PC/Console)
Resident Evil has always been a staple in horror games, but something about 7 and it’s first person perspective, lack of music, and VR capabilities are guaranteed to make you soil yourself. While the REmakes are fantastic and scary on their own? 7 is one of the most pinnacle games in the series when it comes to a good scare.
Silent Hill (PS1 Original)
I still think this is one of the scariest games of all time! The lack of music, atmosphere, and the visuals….all of it was there during the time. Especially during the PS1 days and the graphic capabilities of the time really emphasize the freakiness of this game. It’s a classic these days and the series in my opinion has gone downhill, but nothing can be more creepy than walking through an empty school…and Silent Hill, does EXACTLY THAT!
Five Nights at Freddy’s (PC/Switch)
I know, kids love this game…but what is more creepy than basically Chuck E. Cheese coming to murder you and stuff you into a mechanical suit? Also the feeling of dread that you may be next as you watch the power tick down and watching the time slowly go by. Yea…Five Night’s at Freddy’s is ducking terrifying. Turn off your lights, put on a headset, and prepare to buy yourself a new couch after you shat in it.
Until Dawn (Playstation 4)
This game is a scary fun! Basically you’re watching a movie and every single decision that you make has an influence on what may happen in the next event. Who dies? Who is scared of what? Does this guy do this to this person? Every once in awhile, it’s gonna give you a nice jump scare and keep you on your toes. It’s a good one playthrough and makes for good streaming too.
Amnesia: Dark Decent (PC/Console)
Ughhhhh this game….if you’re looking for a scary good time and a mind f***? Play this game….and really? That’s all I’m gonna say, cause it kinda terrifies me to write about it….ok wait….sound design? Is where this game flourishes.
There are so many great scary games out there that I am sure I missed, but these will put you on the right path to Halloween fright!
