I’d been hearing about the Smoked Blueberry Burger at Black Sheep Social Club for a while. At first, the combo of blueberries on a burger sounded a bit weird, but I like weird. Last Wednesday was Ginger’s Birthday, so I took him to lunch at Black Sheep Social Club in Cedar Rapids.
I got there a bit early so I could ask the staff to bring out carrot cake with a candle at the end of our meal. They were happy to arrange it.
I asked to be seated in a booth. The booths have high backs, and it reminded me of a mobster hangout. I very much dug the atmosphere!

I knew that Ginger would order the Smoked Blueberry Burger, so I took advantage of their Club Sandwich special, which was SO GOOD.
Finally, I get a firsthand look at this Smoked Blueberry Burger I’d been hearing about for so long…
SMOKED BLUEBERRY BURGER*
He ordered it medium-rare with sweet potato fries. I had two big bites. It was DELICIOUS. I think it works well, because the blueberries are smoked. Damn it was good!
Then, right on point, our lovely waitress brought out the surprise carrot cake. They even wrote “Happy Birthday” and added a candle.
I give Black Sheep Social Club in Cedar Rapids 5 stars for sure. Excellent food, friendly staff that went above and beyond… and a kick ass atmosphere.
