Usually when someone talks about Final Fantasy, they are usually referring to Final Fantasy 7.

Amazingly now, the game has crossed the age of 24 years old which is crazy to think, and you know what? The game is still a lot of fun to play!

Before I mention anything about the remake, when 7 was announced and coming to America, it’s really crazy to look back and think how big of a release this game was. No one played RPG games, they were for nerds! But something about Final Fantasy 7 broke that barrier and everyone jumped on the RPG bandwagon. I specifically remember my friends brother getting it back in 1997, and thinking now…he was the typical sports junkie that basically ONLY played sports video games! But, Final Fantasy 7 came out and he just had to have it.

That’s the unique genius of 7.

The music, story, and cast of memorable characters will stick around in video game history forever. Hell, the fact that characters Cloud and Sephiroth BOTH made it into Super Smash Bros is REALLY saying something.

Then we come to remake, which is something that we’d NEVER thought we’d get, but here we are. I don’t think it had the same cultural impact that the original had, but it was a fun roller coaster ride of a game. Seeing out favorite characters in glorious HD was pretty cool. I wasn’t a HUGE fan of what they did with the story, but in order to keep it fresh, I get trying to give it some new life.

24 years ago though, RPG’s became cool.

Also, this remake opening is pretty amazing.
