The album that shot the band into superstardom.
I think if you are living and breathing air, you know who Green Day is, they are one of the most popular bands of all time. But before American Idiot, broadway musicals, acting in movies, and Revolution Radio….Green Day was a punk band that struck it big, and it really TRULY started with their 1994 album ‘Dookie,’ which released this day 27 year ago, and man…it hit hard.
Songs like Longview, Welcome to Paradise, When I Come Around, She, and of course probably their most well know? Basket Case.
All of these songs on ONE album.
What’s interesting about this album though is that this is the album that made them no longer punk, as the scene in Berkley, CA basically shunned them after.
One of my favorite things about this album was their performance at Woodstock 1994 and the historical mud fight to promote it.
