Ask me my Top 5 games of all time, and Resident Evil 2 is in there….but we’re not here to talk about the second one…we’re talking about the one that got it allllll started! The ORIGINAL Resident Evil, and it’s 25 years old!
I’ll never forget the first time I saw this game…not played, but saw it….why not play? Because my brother owned the Playstation and he refused to let me play it cause you know, it was his! Little brothers can’t play HIS video games, absolutely not! But, as I sat and watched him play this game…it floored me…HOW could this be a video game??? There is BLOOD! ZOMBIES! DECAPITATIONS! WHAT IS THIS?!? AND IT IS SCARY AS HELL!
I couldn’t get enough of it.
I was so used to my Nintendo 64 and games like Zelda, Mario, and Goldeneye….but this? This was new and gross, and as a kid? It was like finding your Dad’s dirty magazines and I couldn’t look away. Resident Evil since its inception 25 years ago has become one of the most popular gaming franchises of ALL TIME and I look forward to each game.
I must point out that it had a Director’s Cut….that is home to one of the greatest songs ever.
