An Ode to Ned’s Jeep and All Of Its Greatness

By Ned Apr 13, 2021 | 12:10 PM

Buying a new car can be an exciting moment.

Fresh new car, smell, low mileage, and reliability! It’s a trip and you can’t wait to get into your new car right?

But, what about the one that you have had for over 10+ years right? If you listen to me on the reg on Rock 108, you know of Ned’s Legendary Jeep…all of its highs, lows, and epic-ness. I love that Jeep…it was the first vehicle I bought after college. Drove my girlfriend (now wife) around in, dragged a trailer behind to camp, drove me out to my first week in Iowa, got into a small accident which then brought on the bungee cord, etc.

The amount of stuff and character that thing has, will always be a wonderful memory….but….onto new things.

With the birth of my first daughter, driving from Waterloo to Hiawatha and back, gas mileage, and just overall investing money into the Jeep? It wasn’t practical anymore. Plus that whole Rear Main Seal thing….Jeep owners know….I have moved on.

Say hello to Ned’s 2018 Ford Escape….aka Maverick Hunter (Mega Man X fans? Get it?)

I bought the 2000 Jeep Cherokee from a private party back in 2010, at around 117,000 miles for $4000….don’t ask my how much I put into it, cause I honestly have no idea, and I don’t want to know.

Thank you Millennium Falcon, while you had your downfalls…I still loved ya.
