How I got the name ‘C.C.’

By Tim Martin Apr 15, 2021 | 3:49 AM

About once a week, I get a message asking… “What does C.C. stand for?”  C.C. is not my real name, but it has been my nickname for years.

Meet my little brother, Lance.  (Also, that’s my big brother, Travis in the last picture.)

Lance is 6 years younger than me.  When I was about 10-years-old, he couldn’t pronounce my real name.  When he tried, it came out as “C.C.”.  Up until I was 36-years-old, he was the only one who called me that.  UNTIL… my first day on the air as a radio personality at age 36.

I was working at 94 Rock in Norfolk, NE.  There was 30 seconds left until I was to go on-air and introduce myself for the very first time.  My co-host and boss were in the studio, and they said, “Wait… What do you want your radio name to be?”  I said, “Well, my real name I suppose?”.  My co-host said, “No, you don’t want to do that, because then the stalkers will be able to find you.”  I laughed, then all of us brainstormed for the last 20 seconds throwing out names left and right.  THEN… it just came to me like a fart in the wind.  I yelled, “I KNOW!  C.C.!”.

So that’s how I got my name!

It doesn’t stand for anything.  I just decided to spell it with the caps and periods for no real reason.

Thanks to my little turd brother, Lance for giving me the name.
