What a glorious game.
27 years ago, one of the greatest games of all time was released, and it is still one of my favorites of all time! Mind you, there are quite a few on my list, but something about Super Metroid always kept my attention.
I rented this game all the way back 27 years ago when it was new, and at first play? It creeped me out! But why…
The key thing about this game? Atmosphere.
Music, dark tone, graphics, etc….all of it mixed together gave us this interesting delve into Planet Zebes that at the time? I had never really seen before! This was such a new type of game to me, that I immediately fell in love with it. It was my first experience with a ‘dark tone’ game, which ultimately became my favorite type of ‘atmosphere’ with gaming.
To this day, the game still wows me and challenges me too. Players know this game back and forth, but me, I play it so irregularly that I forget where most things are, giving me a FRESH FEEL when I pop it in my Super Nintendo.
The last Metroid is captivity, the galaxy…is at peace.
