Doesn’t seem that long ago does it?
On this day back in 2017, we lost Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell, and I remember that day quite vividly.
I woke up to my wife telling me that Chris had died, which we JUST saw him perform with Soundgarden at Northern Invasion just a couple weeks before. As a radio guy, we hate working the days when an artist dies. It’s like we lost a family member and the airwaves just become a little bit darker.
I was lucky enough to see Chris perform that night at Northern Invasion, and you can see the video below of the performance that I posted online that year.
I really remember though, that leading up to heading to Northern Invasion that year while trying to get interviews with rockers, I was able to get Chris’ management, and I had a nearly CONFIRMED interview with Chris at the show! Just a couple days before, their management sent me an email saying that ‘Hey Ned, hate to do this but we’re gonna have to cancel due to a scheduling conflict on that day. Let’s hookup next tour and we’ll get you taken care of.’
But we all know, that was not meant to be….but what could have hmmm?
We miss you Chris, and always will.
