How this was 17 years ago is beyond me.
17 years ago, I was just some kid in High School, talking about some band covered in masks and heavy metal releasing a new album, and here I am still talking about it.
It was this day back in 2004, a few of my friends skipped gym class to drive on over to Best Buy to pick up the 3rd album released by Iowa’s own Slipknot, and the album titled ‘Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses.’ To this day, it’s still an amazing album. Tracks like Duality, Before I Forget, Vemilion (Pt. 1 and 2), The Nameless….the album is just LOADED with mesmerizing tracks, and is one of the quintessential albums from the early 2k’s.
This was also the first tour that I saw Slipknot on when they came to my hometown at a place called The DeltaPlex. The moment that white curtain dropped, there was Slipknot in all their masked glory and the crowd became an ocean of bodies. I was beaten, bruised, and had to be crowd surfed out cause there was NO way I was getting out the normal way. At one point my friend Kyle fell from the crowd shift and his earring got ripped out.
What a night that was, and I’d love to relive that show over again.
