Still a fantastic album.
22 years ago, Slipknot released their label debut album (not their original one, but the one that everyone knows), and what a sonic assault to the ears that excellent album is.
For me, Slipknot’s first album was the 2nd thing I heard from them, I was introduced to this band thanks to their album ‘Iowa.’ But you can’t deny the effect this album had on the emerging nu metal scene.
Songs like Surfacing, Spit It Out, Liberate, and of course Wait and Bleed were just those perfect songs that any angsty teenage could get behind. When it was released in 1999, it likely was one of the most dangerous albums to exist during that time. Metal was starting to hit the mainstream…
This is one of the few albums that I can listen to ALL the way through, and I have it on Green Vinyl too!
