This survey caught my attention, only because I semi-agree with it for once. Okay, ladies… What they’re saying is that women start to feel most confident at age 32, and that confidence increases as we get older.
I will say, for me, I didn’t have confidence at age 32 yet. I was still lost in a dark world of alcoholism at that point. My confidence started to develop about 5 years after I got sober, at age 40. (I am 43-years-old now.)
Almost 2/3 of women say that the older they get, the more confident they are in general. Here are the top 4 reasons . . .
1. You care less about what other people think. 63% agreed with that one.
I relate to this one. It wasn’t until about 2 years ago that I developed a “f**k it, who cares” attitude. Getting to that point in life where you don’t care what other people think of you is liberating. I used to sugar coat things from my past when asked about them, but now I embrace the struggles that I have overcome and talk openly about my past if asked. We ALL have a history.
2. You feel more settled down in life.
Okay, this one I sort of relate to. I don’t feel, and NEVER want to feel complacent. But as far as “needing” to be social and party, I have def settled down. I thoroughly enjoy my own company, and look forward to taking myself out on dates, like weekend getaways, etc.
3. It gets easier to embrace changes in your looks.
This one goes along with not caring what other people think about you. I look in the mirror and feel great about aging. I’m just happy I made it this far!
5. You feel more confident at work and know you’re good at your job.
I love this one. I remember doubting myself for years. Now that I love who I am as a person, the world around me isn’t scary or intimidating. I just try to keep it simple and do the next right thing. That formula has brought me much happiness.
My fellow beautiful women, if no one has told you lately how much you are appreciated, then please allow me to. You are an amazing creature and you are appreciated. Now go shine!
