I have a few influential albums, but this one was probably the biggest.
Rob Zombie, Godsmack, Pantera have ALL had major influence on me over the years, but when Green Day’s ‘American Idiot’ dropped? I fell right into it’s red skinny tie guyliner world INCREDIBLY hard.
This day 17 years ago, Green Day released ‘American Idiot,’ and at the time? It is exactly what they needed. Green Day’s most recent album was ‘Shenanigans’ and just no one cared. Then in 2004, they put out this album and it just exploded.
It’s very political as most of you know, which is never my thing…but it was full of great riffs, sing along chorus’, and catchy songs…it’s pop punk after all. As an angsty teenager in high school? Man did it hit all the cylinders.
I look back during from 2000 to 2005 and dude? We got some amazing heavy albums during that time. Musically (at least for me?) it was nearly perfect.
