Regardless of all the logistical issues of Knotfest…
The bands were absolutely on fire that night…Lamb of God, Fever 333, Gojira, Slipknot of course…but STILL the highlight of that whole night? Was Megadeth.
I had only seen Megadeth a total of once before, and I was far away where I could barely see them. Also I wasn’t a BIG fan of them quite yet…fast forward years later, have a better ear for their music, and here I am at Knotfest….reasonably close, and people starting to vacate cause Slipknot is just around the corner.
It was just one of the more musically solid sets! It felt like not one note was missed! They did have to tune down a bit though to match the voice of Dave Mustaine, but personally I felt like that made it sound even heavier. Their entire set just WORKED very well and I’d love to see them again.
