Mushroomhead never rose to the fame that Slipknot did as we all know, but if you went to rock clubs like me throughout my teenage years all the way up until now, you probably saw a band named Mushroomhead there. I know I sure did…
Over 30 times, and it all started with this album ‘XIII’ from 18 years ago. At Rock 108, you’ll hear ‘Sun Doesn’t Rise’ sneak into the playlist every once in awhile, this is the album that song came from!
At the time this album came out, Mushroomhead was a pretty good rise with their masked identities, epic stage shows, and a pretty good following. However, a little known band that was REALLY making strides named Slipknot started making headlines. For years, fans of Mushroomhead and Slipknot battled with each other on who was the better band….but Corey Taylor settled the score on that on that on a book tour claiming it was never the bands that hated each other…it was all fan driven. If you ever got to see this band in their prime during the 2000’s up to the Savior Sorrow album, you saw something really special…hence what kept me going to show….30 times over. Even though their sound has changed a little over the years, I still go.
