You can see the longest partial lunar eclipse in hundreds of years tomorrow night.  It’s going to start around 1am Thursday night and reach it’s maximum around 4am Friday morning.  The whole process is going to be 3 hours, 28 minutes and 23 seconds.

NASA says, “The Moon will be so close to opposite the Sun on Nov 19 that it will pass through the southern part of the shadow of the Earth for a nearly total lunar eclipse.”

Only a small sliver of the moon will be visible during the eclipse. About 97% of the moon will disappear into Earth’s shadow as the sun and moon pass opposite sides of the planet.

The moon will look reddish-brown as it slips into the shadow.

I LOVE this stuff.  Anything to do with the cosmos fascinates me.  If you’re going to be awake like I will be tomorrow night, be sure to look UP!
