Radio is dead though right?

For my entire 14 year career so far, I have been told countless times that ‘Radio is Dead’ or ‘Have a backup plan.’ I always chose not to listen to those, or at least ride the horse of radio until I am told that I can’t do it anymore. Then? I’ll just do something else….but those same people tell me that Spotify, streaming, etc….have DESTROYED RADIO!

And yes, there is validation to that…I use them, not EVERYTHING is on the radio…but where does radio fall into your music listening pattern? According to a survey, quite a bit actually.

Listening to the radio in your car is how 54% of THE WORLD listens to music, even in just the past 6 months!

Only 33% said they’ve listened to music through a streaming service they pay for, like Spotify. Just 29% have listened to a CD in the past six months, 27% have listened to music they bought and downloaded. 26% have listened on sites like YouTube and 11% of us have listened to music on vinyl.

My iPod and phone ARE connected through my car radio, and I listen to podcasts, Game Grumps, etc….but after awhile, I want someone else to take the wheel of my radio….and a radio station whether it be a local station or satellite works well. My iPod is LOADED with thousands of songs, that I end up clicking through to hear the same ol’ thing time after time….with radio, there is this sense of ‘unexpected’ that keeps me listening and wondering ‘What’s next?’

Keep tuning that dial.
