Last night I was dinking around my game room, and stumbled upon one of my favorite games.
NBA Jam for Sega Genesis. (The SNES version is weirdly slower…)
Do you remember that game? Have you ever tried it? It’s pure 1990’s basketball fandom with powerups, monster dunks, and the embodiment of how we looked at basketball stars during that time.
You know me, I’m not really a sports guy…but NBA Jam was different, and to this day? Is still a TON of fun, ESPECIALLY if you can get 3 other friends to play with you. If you were lucky in the 90’s and happened to have a 4 player adapter for Genesis or Super Nintendo? You could jam 4 players in front of a 18′ TV and play as the Hornets, Bulls, Pistons, whatever…and just have uproarious laughter.
When I was a kid, my friend Jon and I would play this game non-stop…even one day, we played every single team in one go with our favorite team? The Rookies….they weren’t good and had terrible stats, but we didn’t care….all we cared about was the announced saying ‘ROOOOOOKS!’
If you still have an old Genesis laying around and can find a 4 player adapter for it, this game brings back a TON of memories and is unlike anything you’ll play today! Many times they have tried to recapture it’s style…but they just can’t.
