Another show coming to Cedar Rapids in April!

Pretty awesome I must say, as Megadeth/Lamb of God/Trivium/In Flames is not a show that comes around these parts! Living here for 6 years now though, I wonder why more and more tours like this don’t ever hit Cedar Rapids. I have heard plenty of times that Iowa is the ‘flyover state’ that bands bypass on their way to Wisconsin or Minnesota.

It does get annoying sometimes needing to drive to (insert state here) to see some of these big shows, and with a 1 year old now? It’s even MORE difficult these days, so IN TOWN SHOWS are a must for me now. But…why don’t we get these big shows/tours? Or how can we get more shows like this? Simple…

Ya gotta buy the tickets.

Basically? Us ‘concert bugs’ gotta make it worth it for bands/venues to invest in a tour. Buying a ‘show’ is an investment, THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS investment…not only to BUY the show, but also pay the people to work the venue (security, vendors, parking, backstage staff, etc) Plus advertising too! As for bands, their management has to be strategical and where to take the tour…looking at previous shows in the area, how many t-shirts/merch they sold, if the venue is advertising the show, etc.

Tours/Concerts….are WAY more than just putting on the show, and if no one comes to show? Then that sends the signal to other bands & venues…”Eh, probably shouldn’t invest in that area cause it barely drew a crowd and we lost money.’

So when you want more metal? rock? country? rap? Ya GOTTA buy the tickets and enjoy the show!
