Ladies and Gentleman…we have another Batman movie.

Batman as you probably know has been a staple of the silver screen for decades now. Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Ben Affleck, and now Robert Pattinson. It seems like every generation has their own Batman at this point…Robert Pattinson out the gate though received IMMEDIATE criticism cause well, his past in the Twilight movies follow him, which at this point? Let it go folks. This movie was nearly 3 hours long, and being a slight Batman fan, seeing all of them….can The Batman be worth your 3 hours of life chewing popcorn? My quick review…

It might be the best Batman movie yet.

That’s a bold statement isn’t it? How could a movie like this after Batman 1989 or The Dark Knight top it? I look at it like this in my gaming world, Legend of Zelda Ocarina is my favorite video game, but Breath of the Wild challenged it nicely…same thing kinda here.

The Batman doesn’t waste your time….first, it’s not a Batman origin story. WE KNOW who Batman is, so the movie doesn’t waste our time with HOW he became Batman…he is just Batman, deal with it. Because of that? We get so much more story and movie. Easily the highlight of this though? It’s a detective story with Batman in it….you know…like BATMAN! I don’t know much about the comics, but if you are a fan of the comic books? My friend Pete said it best himself…

“It was like I was watching the comic book on screen.”

And yes, that’s exactly what it was.

DO NOT DOUBT Robert Pattinson….that dude can act, and he was amazing as Batman. He felt real and not juiced up as we seemingly have been watching for the past few years with Bale. While that worked for Bale in many ways, this was a different look for Batman. His Bruce Wayne though wasn’t the typical millionaire brut we all know…he was a depressed and broken individual which worked with the story incredibly well.

But what about the action? It is SO much a detective movie that we don’t get the action? HOOOOLD on, because there isn’t SO much action being chucked at your face consistently? The action scenes REALLY glow…and whoever did the sound design deserves a damn Oscar. The car chase scene puts goosebumps on your arms…even just typing this and remembering it does it again. Batman’s steps are brooding and effective….it’s wonderful.

I won’t go far into it, but this is a movie you HAVE to SEE on the big screen. DO NOT wait for streaming on this one…it’s a big screen movie that deserves to be seen on the big screen.

Go see it.
