As if theaters already didn’t take a big hit these past couple years….
Now they have to deal with this! In case you didn’t know, movie theaters make little to no money on actual movie tickets, so how to movie theaters make money? On delicious popcorn and pop, and man…I can’t resist that BIG OL BUCKET of popcorn when I hit the theater, it’s all part of it for me.
But naturally, with all the shortages going on…what do you think is next? That’s right, movie theater popcorn!
According to the Wall Street Journal, movie chains are worried that supply chain issues may lead to popcorn shortages later this summer. Reason being is that according to a popcorn supplier, theaters are having to pay farmers more to keep growing popcorn, rather than switching to more lucrative crops like soybeans.
Long story short, if popcorn dries up…which is a theaters MAJOR profit margin, the struggle will be real, and guess what? Popcorn prices will increase.
