And then an era started.

This day in 2001, the world was graced with Microsoft’s first foray into the video game console race with the Xbox, and it’s been a staple ever since.

I personally never owned the original Xbox, as during this time in gaming, I kinda fell out of it for a bit, but I did have a Gamecube. However, my friends opted to go for this thing and for one good reason, Halo: Combat Evolved.

The same day the Xbox came out, so did Halo, and it was the MUST HAVE GAME that year! You bought an Xbox SIMPLY for Halo, and one of the most epic features ever? LAN’ing them together to have an epic 16-player Slayer on Blood Gulch. Now PC players had been doing this for some time, but in the console world? It was unheard of, and if you were lucky enough to make that work? It was legendary.

The Xbox brand in its life brought us the Xbox 360 (which was an EXCELLENT console), the Xbox One, and most recently the Xbox Series X. Lots of folks are wondering if this will be the final Xbox, well…with the push of digital distribution these days? Who knows.
