That’s 100 years ago friends!
1923 was an entirely different world compared today, but I only really know from history books in that case. The famous Hollywood sign was built, Time magazine debuted, and the Model T was still around.
2023 in those days, was the future! So what did people PREDICT in 1923 what the year 2023 would be like. According to Twitter feed of Paul Fairie, he clipped out old newspapers from that time what people were predicting! Here is what he found…
- People will work max 4 hours per day.
- No ugly people.
- Women will paint their teeth black and shave their heads.
- Gasoline will be replaced by radio waves.
- Average life expectency will be 100 years old.
- Flying from Chicago to Germany will only take 18 hours.
- Cancer will be eradicated.
- Homes won’t have kitchens anymore.
- Telepathy will exist.
- Kidney koozies (to keep your organs warm I guess?)
While some of these aren’t ENTIRELY off? It is kinda fascinating isn’t it? I’m all about the working max 4 hours a day though…that would have been awesome! Imagine how much crap I’d get done around the house and the cost of daycare would be.
