For over 100 years, you could dial 411 or 0 to get? The Operator.

Chances are you ask anyone from a younger generation and the moment you tell them about 411 or 0? They have no idea what your are talking about, hell you can just Google at this point right?

That’s what AT&T feels to as they announced they will be disconnecting the 411 operator service from their digital landline service. Why? An AT&T spokesperson said ‘Nearly all of these customers have internet access to look up this information.’

They’re not entirely wrong on that, but according to the FCC in 2019? 71 million calls were places to 411.

It is good to note that Verizon, T-Mobile, and other major carriers actually still do an operator service? But you gotta pay for it.

Nothing seemed louder on your landline phone then ‘If you’d like to make a call, please hang up and dial again, if you need help simply hang up and dial the operator.’
