The older I get, the more I find that I am watching documentaries for entertainment. I think it was between “Modern Marvels” on the History Channel and “Behind The Music” on Vh1 that helped this along.
Friday night, I was scanning across my lists and for some reason, it stood out to me. A&E “Biography ” The Harlem Globetrotters. The first memory I have of this legendary team starts with their guest spot on Scooby Doo.
This was produced in 1987 and featured some of the household names that I knew from the team. Meadowlark Lemon and Curly Neal along with some of the original members from the 1950’s.
This documentary made me realize how much I didn’t know about the team. One was that the team wasn’t even from Harlem. There is way more, but I don’t want to spoil it.
I found it on Hulu. It’s also on YouTube. Now I can’t get “Sweet Georgia Brown” out of my head.
