While not a game I can just pickup and play, I understand its significance.
29 years ago, easily one my favorite games of all time Super Metroid was released on the Super Nintendo, and Metroid games were the never the same since. Ask any Nintendo fan (like myself) what are some of the best video games or best SNES games of all time? Likely all of them will include Super Metroid on that list.
1994 seems like ages ago, cause it totally is…and I remember seeing commercials and magazine coverage about this game and I thought it looked cool! So of course I rented it and during that time as a young kid? I got lost, frustrated, and angry….but I couldn’t put it down. Years later as an adult, I have gained SUCH an appreciation for this game…so much so that the prologue picture of Samus is one of my larger pieces on my tattoo sleeve.
Still to this day, the atmosphere of this game is unmatchable. Something about the music, dark setting, no voice acting, and the kinda muffled sound effects just made this game what it is. Anytime I tell someone about it, I always suggest a dark room sitting in the glow of the screen.
While I don’t think it is the greatest game of all time, it’s easily one of the top.
