The quest for the Family Video sign, is currently….at a stand still…
After plenty of emails, a few calls, and even an approval to take the sign down…we are currently stand still with the acquisition of the beloved Family Video sign!
I did call the local sign shop and they were really cool about the whole thing, however the reality of it all set in when cost of removing the sign came about. Not only would I have to pay to have it removed which wasn’t a super big deal, but replacing the plexi part to protect the inside electrics is where it all got real expensive. They were honest with me which was cool, but at the end of the day? They told me the cost of the plexi would be WAY more.
So, I have to stick with the option that Family Video gave me and that is wait until a new tenant takes over the location and they will call me when I will be able to come and get it! I did ask about two of the locations here in Eastern Iowa, the one I originally inquired about on Ansborough in Waterloo and another in Waverly.
So, let’s hope those places get booked soon so I can take home my beloved Family Video sign. However, the sad part is that each location has sat vacant for over 2 years…so right now? Hope is small, but the hope is there.
