For years and years, I have been waiting for this kind of news.
Turns out yesterday though? The creator of the insanely popular Legend of Zelda franchise Shigeru Miyamoto shared in a tweet that there is in FACT a ‘Legend of Zelda’ movie in pre-production with Marvel producer Avi Arad set to produce and Sony Pictures funding it. The film will also be live action!
My head kinda exploded hearing all of that.
After the insane success that is the Super Mario Bros. movie this past year, of course Nintendo is going to say, ‘Ok, what else can we do?’
Zelda has been a part of my life since I could walk, plugging in that old cartridge into my NES and touring around the land of Hyrule, and as you probably know, I have a huge Link tattoo right on my forearm. So yea, Zelda is a pretty big deal for good ol’ Ned. Video game movies do not have the best track record when it comes to movies, but lately there have been a few exceptions to that rule and with Nintendo at the helm? Let’s hope for the best.
My biggest concern is that the Zelda universe relies on Link being a ‘mute’ character, so I’m curious how that’ll work. I suppose they made it work very well for Mario who didn’t have the largest vocabulary.
Not much is known about the film outside of this tweet, but it has been confirmed fact….but now the internet is wondering, who the hell would play a LIVE ACTION VERSION of these characters!?! My selections are below…
