4 years ago today, Metallica/Avenged Sevenfold/Volbeat rocked the state at Iowa Speedway in Newton, IA…were you there?
I sure was, and so were all of us Rock 108 folk too! Until then I had never seen Metallica ever…I always wanted to, but opportunities kept passing me by..and this time? I was not going to miss it.
I remember the show was benefitting the Native Fund, which was run by Iowa native Ashton Kutcher (who was also at the show by the way) and man, just a SEA of fans all over the place. It was a perfect day for a rock show, and a big glass of water was like $5 or something. I dare not buy a beer cause then I would have had to mortgage my house just for one.
What a great show that was…I still watch the YouTube videos that people posted after the show and just remember it. Cool enough, Metallica also professionally filmed their performance of ‘One’ which you can check out below.
