Tornado Last Night By Dubuque

By Tim Martin Jun 21, 2021 | 3:53 AM

Did you know that Iowa is over halfway done with tornado season this year already?  April, May and June are prime months for twisters in Iowa, and so far this year we haven’t had as many as usual.

BUT, just after 8:00 last night there was a tornado in South Dubuque by Bernard.  It caused damage to some buildings, but no one was hurt (thank goodness).

Growing up in the Midwest, tornadoes were just part of life.  When I moved to Seattle, I remember people there asking me what a tornado is like.  For me, I’ve always been fascinated by them.  It’s just super eerie when the sky gets dark, the wind stops and those saggy green clouds appear.  There’s nothing quite like it.  I’ve also seen the devastation a twister can cause.  About 6 years ago, it wiped out an ENTIRE small town in Nebraska, and I’ll never forget that image.  It looked like a bulldozer had taken it’s time and leveled the area.

Do you have a tornado story?
