What a wild ride it’s been so far.

Tomorrow, will be my 6 year anniversary of doing the afternoon show on Rock 108 and living in Iowa. Hard to imagine isn’t it?

When my wife and I first got here, it was one of the most questionable decisions we ever made in our lives. We both had comfortable jobs in our hometown, making decent money, family was around…then I got the call asking if I would be interested in doing afternoons in a place called Waterloo, IA….after a bit of discussion, my wife has a knack for adventure, and away we went….left the familiar, our friends & family, and went to this state that all we really knew was corn and Slipknot. That first couple months? Was basically hell…

We didn’t know what kind of money I would make, Katie was able to transfer her part time job to Barnes & Noble, and we found this apartment that looked like it came out of 1978…we had no furniture, shoestring budget, and an air mattress….so yea….we wondering what the living hell we just got ourselves into? We lived on a steady diet of bakes potatoes with chili and binge watched That 70’s Show for some reason.

That, was 6 years ago….fast forward to now? I’m still on Rock 108 loving it, with a nice house, first born daughter, no student debt, and a good running car.

Now….before you go ‘Look at this bragging camp’ here….I say look at it more like this. My wife and I are work horses….sometimes we blend work with normal life (not entirely healthy…don’t do that…), but because we needed this work….it NEEDED to happen. A lot of people would have tossed in the towel…but not us. We didn’t take our time sitting around…Katie worked everyday to get into the local library system, we donated plasma, any extra money that came in went to paying external debt, we searched out a social life (Spicoli’s)…we put both feet on the ground and said ‘Let’s do it live F&^* IT!’ Just saying if you work hard and stay focused? It can happen.

I guess what I am saying at the end of this blog….thanks for letting me jam in your earholes. I wouldn’t have what I have today, if it wasn’t for awesome folks like you.
