I about took all my internet equipment and burned it last night.

I do video game streaming on Twitch, I love it, look forward to it…but it really depends on my internet connection that night if things are gonna go smoothly or terrible. For the past few months, things have been relatively good! Not perfect, but good enough to work. However the past couple weeks, a sudden drop in quality and upload speed happened and I haven’t been able to stream at ALL, and it hasn’t gotten any better! 2 weeks now, and I’m days away from the 24 hour livestream…so it NEEDS to work. So I did what anyone would do…call your ISP.

I did the chat which is all I have time for to see what was up, which they told me that everything seemed fine…ummm no…it’s not. But they discovered my modem which I rent from them is outdated! WHY DID I HAVE TO COMPLAIN TO THEM TO FIND THAT OUT? Anyway, I then asked if I could temporarily get better internet to ENSURE that things work for 24 hour livestream. WELL OF COURSE they’re more than happy to sell you more…but for an extra $20 a month? I went for it to MAKE SURE it was going to work. They said the new modem and some new WiFi thing was coming on Wednesday, so perfect timing, great speedy internet, good to go!

So I thought…

I got the new stuff, setup the new modem and was told on the chat that it would be good to go the MOMENT I got the new stuff put together. Not so much….

I went online to my hardwired desktop and the speeds were god awful…like nothing had changed! So pretty angry at this point, I immediately brought up my ISP chat and said it was unacceptable. OF COURSE they asked…

‘Did you unplug and replug it?’

Grrrrrr…of course, that did nothing. Then the dreaded ‘Well we can get a tech out to you on Nov. 13th’ Which I replied, ‘I can’t, it needs to work by this Saturday Nov. 6th.’ And guess what they did??? THEY CLOSED THE CHAT AND BOOKED THE APPOINTMENT! WHAT THE FLYING HELL?!? They literally did nothing to explain it! But hold on ok? It’s gonna get f***ed up quick.

My Twitch community has an IT guy that said, ‘Dude, get rid of that modem and go buy this one.’ So randomly off to Wal-Mart last night, found the modem, paid $100 for it and got to my car. I took a picture and sent it to my discord to make sure….and nope….got the wrong one. Truthfully my mistake, so I headed back into Wal-Mart and was told that the Service Desk is closed and I can’t return it….so STRIKE 2 there for me!

I drove back home frustrated and angry….I REFUSE TO PAY MORE for something that isn’t ANY kind of upgrade at all! I NEED THIS WORK! So I did what any new age person does….I TWEETED THEM…..and guess what happened? I got an INSTANT reply…stay with me, it gets really dumb.

We switched to private messenger, they looked up my chat and saw the problem. Whomever that was then said, ‘Sorry for all the trouble! It looks like your connection is still configured for 10 mbps when it supposed to be 30 mbps, let’s get that configured.”

ARE….YOU…..KIDDING ME?!?!

WHY….WHY???? Did it take me sending out a TWEET to get this fixed? I CHATTED with YOUR people to see what was wrong, but instead got hung up on, nearly bypassed the whole modem, and then TWEETED to your Twitter to get my answer? After that was done, speeds were glorious. Seriously man, this took hours of my night…I have a lot of things I need to do! When you say it’s gonna work the MOMENT I plug it in? Stand by that….don’t force me to go cry to Twitter to get my answers….that it just horrible, terrible, and stupid.

Since then, I woke up this morning and checked the speeds on my phone…so grain for salt and probably not accurate. But once again, it was super down in upload speed. I’m not 100% on that cause I was using wireless, but tonight…I will try on my hardwired desktop and see.

All I’m saying…..I paid for it….get your s*** together ISP.
