When people ask me what are my favorite video games…
I instantly go to Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, but when they ask me other ones…Resident Evil 2 follows up very closely, and it is 24 great years old.
I remember getting this game…actually it wasn’t me who received it, it was my brother…I mean it was HIS Playstation after all! I was the dorky young brother who wasn’t allowed to touch his stuff…so it took a bit until I was able to play it naturally.
But when I did, a lot of things changed for me…it felt way more ‘adult’ than my kiddy Zelda games I would play. These 2 characters of Leon and Claire would be engrained into my soul for a whole lifetime. Even with Resident Evil reinventing itself with 4, 7, etc….2 always stood out as this masterpiece of a game for me. So when they decided to REMAKE the game? My mouth dropped to the floor…it was nearly the perfect remake of a game and I STILL play it.
But something about that original one means so much to me. Even with my video game tattoo sleeve, I made sure that Resident Evil 2 got its own separate portion on my arm (before I do the big tribute to survival horror.
RE2 is in my opinion on of the greatest games ever created.
