Finally found some time to check out a movie this weekend!

The big movie in theaters currently is of course, the next big Marvel movie ‘Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness’ which is naturally a big ol’ hit a the box office. However if you look at reviews, it’s getting mixed. After a stone cold hit like Spiderman: No Way Home? How can you even follow that up? Also is there like DIE HARD Dr. Strange fans out there? I must point out though that one of my favorite directors Sam Raimi was in charge of this one, so knowing that? I was ready for a Raimi Strange movie. So my quick review of this one?

A Movie to Not Take Too Seriously

Is is a great movie? Eh….but it is no means a bad movie. With a character like Dr. Strange, he just isn’t Spiderman, Iron Man, etc…he is just Dr. Strange, who in the world of cinema is not gonna reinvent the wheel. However, he is part of the MCU, so you can’t ignore him.

Before you see this movie though, I do recommend that you watch Disney +’s ‘Wandavision’ to understand what the whole kid thing is about with Scarlett Witch…if you don’t, you are gonna wonder what the hell you are watching.

By all means, this is a SAM RAIMI movie. If you saw the Tobey McGuire Spidey movies, you might get an inkling of what is to come here. While Raimi doesn’t go FULL Raimi here, you can clearly see his influence on so many levels. There are parts that are very clearly taken from his horror days of Evil Dead, Three Stooges type of humor, and of course…the Bruce Campbell cameo which will never get old for me. There is a part that is STRAIGHT UP ‘Army of Darkness’…you’ll know it when you see it.

Yes, there are some…introductions….no spoilers though.

That being said, and being a Raimi fan? I enjoyed it because I knew what I was getting into, but if you have no idea who he is or don’t care? You’re probably gonna write this one off. It has a very different tone than the rest of the MCU movies, hence why I think there are mixed reviews with it. It’s just a fun movie, and some movie buffs may get this statement, ‘It’s just the second one.’

There are mid and post credit scenes, with the post being the funniest. I had fun, but it’s nothing to get angry about…it’s a superhero movie that I think was the movie after Spiderman: No Way Home…and that is a major tough act to follow.
