Man I WANTED to go to Welcome to Rockville in Florida.

But in retrospect? I’m glad I didn’t…as nearly 2 entire days were rained out with festival goers forced to evacuate the grounds for their safety from lighting and downpour rain.

The festival was set to welcome bands like Korn, Skillet, Megadeth, Guns N Roses, even our friends in Saul…but mother nature refused to let the show go on, which sucks.

I have been to a couple of festivals where rain was on it’s way, and even one where it ended up delayed the festival for hours! However, I never had to be evacuated from a festival before, so I imagine with the hundreds and thousands of people to move from one place to another? That is no easy feat…at all.

A couple I remember was raining at Rock on the Range, during Puddle of Mudds set, but the band kept going. Once during Scott Weilands set, while the band played? MANY people retreated to dryer areas. The biggest one though was Rock USA (RIP…) and Rob Zombie was set to go up after Marilyn Manson and you could SEE the lightning in the distance during Manson. Zombie had to be cancelled, but everyone got out safe.

Biggest one though was the following day, where I stayed in my hotel room as this BIG ASS storm starting kicking up tornado alarms, severe weather, and more! Once it was clear, we got out to the show. There are some videos of the chaos below of storms taking out rock festivals I attended. It’s never fun, duh…but to stay safe? You gotta!

It can suck, but weather will do whatever it wants, whenever it wants.
