How DARE you like what I don’t like!

Thanks to things like social media though, we are constantly JUDGED by our choices…it’s just natural at this point. But I am gonna focus on personal interest like music, movies, pop culture, video games, etc.

Dude. if your favorite band is Nickelback, you play strictly Xbox, enjoy the taste of Coca-Cola over Pepsi….I’m here to tell you there is no shame in that! We seemingly are getting more and more closed up cause we fear being judged by our peers because we like something….and man, it’s just a waste of time.

It’s called ‘Gatekeeping,’ which according to Urban Dictionary: “when someone takes it upon themselves to decide who does or does not have access or rights to a community or identity“.

I have a friend that bought a Playstation 5, which is cool, I’d love to have one myself! However, he never skips a beat to tell me how terrible Xbox is and how people are stupid if they buy one….why? HE DOESN’T EVEN OWN ONE! I’m happy you like your PS5, but why waste your time and tear down others about your supposed GREAT CHOICE? Is HE gonna buy me a PS5 for $500? What does is matter what people play or how they play it? Why do you care so much on what other people spend THEIR hard earned money on?

Music is whole ‘nother monster. Another friend I mentioned how a Five Finger Death Punch show will sell much better than a Megadeth show, to which he replied ‘I feel sorry for peoples awful taste in music’….ok….just because it’s not your music, it clearly means it terrible music? Where is your record? Where is your millions of fans? If you think you have such an incredible elite taste in music, then get writing.

Buying a vehicle? Well you better be sure it’s the car that someone else wants….I got into a fight over the phone with my brother cause he was disgusted that I was looking into a buying a foreign named car. Like, it was a thing! Why? It’s not his car, he’s not driving it, he’s not paying for it. Why does he need to share his opinion on this? Just be happy that I was buying a car. Then when I bought a car, I posted it on Facebook and received MULTIPLE messages stating how I bought a P.O.S….thanks for raining on my parade. FYI, no vehicle is perfect…they all have problems and you deal with them.

Long story short, if you really like something…don’t let people make your choices for you. It’s your money, your music, your style….f*** what other people say and just enjoy things.
