24 years ago, we thought we saw a guy die on TV.
Wrestling is yes….a performance….fake, yadda, yadda….but there is nothing fake about these guys tossing each other around the way they do and the bodily harm they ultimately do. 24 years ago, one wrestler took it to the extreme limit…and that was Mankind during the June 28, 1998 Hell in a Cell match with the Undertaker.
Wrestling fan or not, I cannot beleive the insanity that this match was, and if you were lucky enough to see it live…you saw what ‘performance’ meant, to the point that we all thought we were watching a man die live on television. It’s one of those matches that you watch over and over and think…’How the HELL is this guy still standing?’
And then it just kept happening, he kept getting back up, and made absolute sports entertainment history.
I gained SO much respect for Mick Foley…just epic.
