Watching a scary movie is one thing, but playing a scary video games is whole ‘nother world of scary.

A movie roughly ends about 1 1/2 hours and there are some scary movies out there of course, but a video game easily last hours and gives you a whole different sense of ‘scare.’ There are TONS of horror themed video games out there with scary imagery, sense of loneliness and all, and these are 5 that I recommend.

  • Silent Hill (PS1)

This is still my go to when it comes to scary games. Obviously more scary games have come out since then, but this is still one that if you turn out the lights on a lonely night in your home and play this one? It still gives your the hee bee jee bees. The lack of music, foggy streets, and the horrific atmosphere still creep me out today.

  • Resident Evil 7

This game was a wonderful return to what Resident Evil was, survival horror, and this one knocks it out of the park. A great storyline and all, but it’s that first person that really gets your. The sense of urgency when running from the Baker family as they transform left and right, and that time you head to the basement and see those strange goo monsters? Yikes…you just hope for a safe room anytime you step out.

  • Dead Space

Low on ammo, find weapons, and survive. I knew what I was in for the moment the prompt said ‘Run For Your Life.’ That one still sticks with me today…if you are looking for that ‘Alien’ type of game, I don’t know if it gets any better than Dead Space. Hell, they are even remaking the game for modern consoles and PC if that tells you anything,

  • Five Nights at Freddy’s

Who doesn’t love a good jump scare? This game is all about them…I have to be in the mood to play this one. Easily one of the most viral games out there, FNAF is one of those that’s good for a round if you feel like crapping your pants for a quick moment. Heck I’d even say it’s fun for parties if you get it all setup right….but best played with headphones.

  • The Dark Pictures Anthology Games

What if you could PLAY a movie? With the Dark Pictures games, that’s exactly what these are. Fun one through games that keep you on the edge and question every single damn move you make! Aside from Dark Pictures, there are similar games like Until Dawn and The Quarry that are available now. I love all of these games and I really enjoy the whole sit back, and if you watch me on stream? Then you know what I am talking about.
