There is a pretty good chance that you have one of these.

22 years ago today, the Playstation 2 hit store shelves and became a gaming phenomenon. Sure you probably have fond memories of original Nintendo, Game Boy, Sega, etc….but it was the PS2 that took gaming in to the mainstream.

The PS2 is the #1 selling game console of all time, sitting at 155 million consoles sold in its lengthy lifetime, and there is still a pretty good chance that you’ll find one at someones house. But….why….was the PS2 so popular? 2 reasons…it promised to be a true nex gen gaming experience, and? It was the cheapest DVD player you could buy at the time for $300. Remember, this was before internet could do what it does today, and at the time, it looked like you were playing REAL people in a game.

I actually didn’t latch onto the PS2 like everyone did, and I missed this gaming generation pretty heavily cause I was starting to date girls at the time. The console I owned was the Nintendo Gamecube and I only got it during then cause my friend was selling it.

22 years of what many consider the best console ever.
