Need a new game to play? This one is pretty good.
This past week, I was able to sneak away from the newborn for a minute and snag myself a copy of the latest Resident Evil entry into the series, and that of course was the highly anticipated remake of one of the greatest games of all time, Resident Evil 4.
When the original came out on the Gamecube, it was a game unlike any other at the time and has been considered as one of the greatest games of all time…if you have a game console from Gamecube on? Resident Evil 4 has been likely ported to it…it’s just that good. So when these REmakes started happening, fans began to wonder…what if? 4 was already pretty perfect, so how do you make something already GOOD…into GREAT? This is how….as Capcom has done it again with their REmakes.
I have praised RE2 Remake highly, but from what I have played with this one so far…it’s nearly on the same level. Where the RE3 remake kinda dropped the ball, RE4 Remake picks up the ball and kicks a field goal.
It is a remake of course, so the story (from what I have played so far) is generally the game, but given such a fresh coat of paint and control scheme. They added so much extra stuff to keep the gameplay engaging, but also entice you with these extra things to say ‘Hey hold up, check this out first’ and it just makes the game WAAAAAY more interesting. See while RE3 remake was kinda a linear go here and go here, RE4 is linear but doesn’t stray TOO far off the path where it becomes overwhelming.
Mind you, I just reached the Lake portion…but from what I have played so far? It’s extremely good, and if you are a fan of the original? There is a lot to unpack here.
