As far as I know, there has always been a Van Halen!
But imagine it, at some point…Eddie was just a kid, playing guitar, performing in a band that would soon become on of the most popular bands ever and be solidified as a guitar hero. Before Van Halen was performing in arenas, they were playing…you guessed it…high schools.
Earlier today, audio of one of their earlier performance surfaced online from the year 1975…before Eruption, before Running with the Devil, before all those hits that you know and love…they were playing covers!
Songs from ZZ Top, Deep Purple, The Rolling Stones, Sugarloaf, and even Edgar Winter.
Mind you this was in 1975, likely taped with…something? So it ain’t perfect, but it’s a great time capsule into what was to become.
