The Game Boy.
32 years ago, the little pocket game console that did came out…and man, everyone seemingly had one…the Game Boy!
All you needed was 4 AA batteries and some decent light and you were off to the races with games like Tetris, Super Mario Land, Zelda: Link’s Awakening….and of course Pokemon.
I didn’t get the Game Boy until they released the Game Boy Pocket, which required only 2 AAA batteries, but it had a better and larger screen, but I still needed some decent light. I would sit on the couch under the light of a lamp and just jam away on my Game Boy.
While I did enjoy Mario games and such, I didn’t really get invested into my Game Boy until 1998, as a little game named Pokemon showed up and just shot adrenaline into the Game Boy again, and it had been around since 1989!!!
What a great little console.
